This contemplation involves a comparison of two very different ways of swimming.
At the start of each stroke reach forward and grab the water as tightly as you can in your fist before pulling your hand back aggressively. What is the result? High expenditure of energy, little progress and frustration.
Now swim with open palms. Be sensitive to the feel of the water in your hands. If it feels like too much water is slipping past your hands as you swim then pull more gently. Now what is the result? Less expenditure of energy, more progress and a feeling of being at ease with the water.
In life, why frustrate yourself by trying to grasp what cannot be grasped? Live with open palms and be at peace with reality.
